The Tour du Mont Blanc

One circuit, three countries, roughly 170 kilometres and 10,000 metres of ascent around the Mont Blanc massif. The Tour du Mont Blanc crosses from France into Italy over the Col de la Seigne, into Switzerland over the Grand Col Ferret, and back to Chamonix — a loop walked for more than two centuries and still the most complete way to see the massif from every side.

Hiking Mont Blanc is our English-language home for the TMB and the walks around it.

How we run it

Self-guided. We book every night — refuges, gîtes and small hotels along the route — plan each stage to your pace, transfer luggage between valley stops, and give you route notes, maps and GPS tracks. You walk unaccompanied but never unsupported.

The classic circuit takes 7 to 11 days depending on how many stages you compress and whether you use the Courmayeur and Champex bus links. Shorter versions exist: the highlights in a long weekend, or the Italian and Swiss balconies without the full loop.

Refuge beds on the TMB sell out months in advance. That booking window is the single reason most independent attempts fall apart, and the main thing we take off your hands.
